Second chance at Indian summer

It was flat out glorious on the mountain. Cool but CAVU (clouds absent, visibility unlimited). I got to the site about 11:00 AM. The crew had been doing some serious clean-up and had a fine fire going.

The roofers had roofed as much as they could. The only one inch plywood left to install is over the Great Room/kitchen and since the rafters were icy the constrution workers were loath to try to install it. Plans are to wait until Monday and “do it up then.” So today was setting the platform from which the sheets will be hoisted, taking down old catwalks and general maintenance. Jeremy’s woman friend had been up the night before and they had driven up to Timberline in the full moon, scarely needing headlights. Dan and Jimmy had gone for a moonlit drive near Trillium Lake. Tonight’s harvest moon was equally splendid.

The crew had fun with the gray jays, with Jeremy attempting to get them to eat bread off his head. They made a couple of swoop and ate it from the ground.

You can see Mt Hood from the upstairs balcony and also from the east end of the house, on a day like today.

I rounded out the day with babysitting the world’s best baby and watching the Wizard of Oz. The staging and cinematograhpy in the movie is amazing…with lions and tigers and bears, oh my.
